Provoke One Another Unto Love and Good Works
“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:24-25). Yesterday I spoke about the importance of stirring up the gift of God inside of ourselves, but sometimes we have to stir it up in those around us. Provoking almost always has a negative connotation, but it doesn’t have to. In a world that has become increasingly provocative, why not use some of that provocativeness for good? There are so many people that are teetering right on the edge of making positive changes within themselves and in the world around them. They just need a little push. So many of us are primed and ready with our lamps full and our wicks trimmed and we are aching to make a positive difference in the world, and we just need that little spark, that little provocation, and then we can let our own light shine, and we can in turn provoke others and light their unlit lamps. I hope that we can all be provokers of love and good works.
