If We Ask For A Stone, God Gives Us Bread
If we ask God for bread, He will not give us a stone. But more importantly, if we ask God for a stone, He’s going to say, no, you don’t want that stone, you want bread, it’s much better. Due to a lack of faith or a lack of vision, sometimes our prayers are too small in scope for what the Lord has in mind for us. The Lord says that He will pour out a blessing so big that we will not have room enough to receive it. And why is this? Why would He give us more than we have room for. It’s not to sit back and admire the walls of our house bulging outward because it can’t hold all of the blessings we’re getting. God gives us more than we can receive because it’s not just for us. Christ told Peter, “when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.” God gives us more than we need, more than we can hold, because He wants us to share our strength and our conversion and our blessings with our brothers and sisters. It’s not like God miscalculated. Oh, I see you have room for ten blessings but I accidentally brought you twelve. God doesn’t make mistakes. He loves to bless us, but He loves it even more when we go out and bless the lives of others out of the abundance of the blessings that we have received. Luke 6: 38 - “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”
