Be the Blessing
"And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:" (Genesis 12:2). The Lord promises Abraham a number of blessings that seem to grow in magnitude as the list goes on. The last blessing the Lord promises is to make Abraham himself into a blessing. That is the highest honor we can attain, the greatest accomplishment we can achieve, the ultimate reason for our existence. If we can look back at our day or our week or our life and honestly say that we have been a blessing in someone else's life, that should be enough. Jesus Christ was the ultimate embodiment of a blessing and if we are to become like Him, then we ought to strive to become a blessing just like He is. Being a blessing is greater than becoming a great nation or having a great name. If we can just find one way each day that we can be a blessing, then I know that God will take care of the rest and be able to do a great and marvelous work with the blessing that is us.
