Salt Of The Covenant
The scriptures talk about the salt of the Covenant. Or, in other words, those who enter into a Covenant are accounted as the salt of the earth. Salt was so important in ancient times that Roman soldiers were paid in salt and the word salary comes from the Latin word for salt. Salt preserves food and keeps out corruption. It also enhances flavors. We often think about how keeping our covenants can preserve and protect us from sin, but keeping covenants also enhances the flavors and experiences of life. Keeping our covenants gives us the confidence to fully embrace all of the good that life has to offer. When we keep our covenants, we are promised that the Holy Ghost will be our constant companion and he will not only protect and preserve us from the corruption of sin, but He will highlight and bring to our mind all of the beautiful and wonderful things that are right in front of us. Our covenants are meant to do more than just help us survive. They can help us thrive and enjoy life in a way that is only possible when we have that salt of the Covenant.
