Rays Of Light

In mathematics, a ray is half a line that has a fixed end point on one end, but goes on forever in the other direction. Jesus Christ has said that we are the light of the world. “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14,16). When we let our light shine, we are sending out rays of light that start with us as their endpoint, but then go on forever. After all, light can neither be created nor destroyed. It may not always be obvious when we do some act of service or kindness to another, that there has been any major effect, but those rays of light that we shine out will go on forever and ever, and the positive effects of our good works will ripple outwards as our ray of light is absorbed and reflected and passed on again the again. If so much goodness can come from one single ray, then we owe it to ourselves and to everyone else to send out as many rays of the light of Christ as we possibly can, so the light of the world can grow brighter and brighter until the perfect day.
