“And, if you keep my commandments and endure to the end you shall have eternal life, which gift is the greatest of all the gifts of God.” We often refer to something as the gift that keeps on giving, but in nothing is that more true than the greatest of all the gifts of God. Eternal Life is more than just a perpetual and uninterrupted existence. It's more than living with God and our family forever. Eternal Life is to know God and Jesus Christ. It's to see the world, the universe, as They see it, to think the way They think, to be like Them, to live and to laugh and to love the way They do, to create and inspire and bring to pass the immortality and eternal lives of our own children and give them everything we have, just as They gave us everything we have. The gift of Eternal Life is nothing less than an invitation to go on an adventure that never ends, cramming a thousand lifetimes into every single day, feeling the joy and heartache as we watch countless generations struggle and stumble and fall and find redemption and pure joy. The gift of Eternal Life is to be filled so completely with the pure love and light and joy of Christ that it can't help but spill out of us and radiate outwards until we have filled the immensity of space. To allow ourselves to be persuaded to give up this greatest of all gifts for anything else is like throwing away a pearl of great price so that we can play with the box it came in. I hope that we will all waste and wear out our lives in relentless pursuit of becoming worthy and willing to receive the greatest of all the gifts of God.
