Power Transformer

A transformer is basically a big magnet with copper wires coiled around each side. It can transform power flowing through one set of coils into the other set of coils. When electricity flows through a wire wrapped around a magnet, the electrical power flow induces a magnetic current flow, and then that magnetic flow can induce another electrical power flow in the other wire. The more coils of wire there are, and the more pure the materials are, the more efficient is the transfer of power from one set to the other. One of the chief uses of transformers is to step up the electrical power to a high voltage to transport it across long distances, which is much more efficient and results in less loss but is on the other hand dangerous to humans and their electrical appliances, and then when the power arrives at someone's home, the voltage is stepped back down to a lower voltage that is safe to use. God operates on a higher plane than us. His thoughts and His ways are higher than our thoughts and ways, and His power runs at a much higher voltage than we can safely handle. But, we can make our heart into a power transformer and step down God's power to a lower voltage that is safer for us to handle. Every time we study and ponder the scriptures, every time we give heed to a prompting from the Spirit, every time we resist temptation, every time we serve or worship or sacrifice, every time that we learn line upon line, we wrap another coil of copper wire around our magnetic core, and the Savior, for His part, matches us coil for coil. We may only be able to handle a few milliamps of power at a time when we are first starting out, but as we keep adding line upon line to the power transformer in our heart, we will be able to handle more and more of our Savior's power, we will understand clearer and clearer His thoughts, and we will walk more and more steadfastly down His ways.
