A Still, Small Voice

In the movie Moana, after the mighty Maui has been defeated and his magic hook has been destroyed, Moana faces down the giant scary lava monster with little more than a still, small voice, a voice that nevertheless pierces through all of the storms and chaos and turmoil, a voice that can see past the rage and the pain, a voice that enters into the heart and provides healing and understanding and hope. Do we not sometimes feel that our lives and our souls have been seized and consumed by doubt and grief and fear and pain, and that there is so much chaos and noise that even if the Holy Ghost were to try to speak peace to our souls with His still small voice, that we wouldn't be able to hear or comprehend it? Do we not feel like sometimes we are so overwhelmed by the winds and the waves of adversity and affliction that we feel to cry out, Master, carest thou not that we perish? The Master does care and though He speaks in a still, small voice, it is a voice that invites stillness, a voice that can quiet our fears and soothe our pains, a voice that enters into the heart and provides healing and understanding and hope. If we are driven by the wind and tossed, if our lives have become chaotic, if our hearts burn hot with anger or droop in despair or waver with doubt, we can invite a still, small voice into our hearts, a voice that will bring stillness and peace with it.
