Our Faith Becometh Unshaken

“Wherefore, we search the prophets, and we have many revelations and the spirit of prophecy; and having all these witnesses we obtain a hope, and our faith becometh unshaken, insomuch that we truly can command in the name of Jesus and the very trees obey us, or the mountains, or the waves of the sea.” (Jacob 4:6). For our faith to be unshaken, it does not mean that it is unchallenged. Although we will face challenges and adversity, our faith is not shaken, but stands firm and endures. For our faith to be unshaken, it does not mean that it is unquestioned. Although questions and doubts will creep into our minds and hearts to tempt us to abandon our testimonies and our personal revelations from the spirit of prophecy, our faith is not shaken, but stands firm and endures. For our faith to be unshaken, it does not mean that it is undisturbed. As we follow after our Savior Jesus Christ and take up our cross and suffer the scorn and the persecution of the world, we will witness things that ought to shake us to our very core and to abandon all hope that there is any kind of decency or sense to the world, but despite all of this, our faith is not shaken, but stands firm and endures. A tree that has never stood up to the wind is not a tree that has remained unshaken. We will not know how strong and tough and unshaken we can be until hell and all of its fury has had a chance to try to shake us with everything it’s got. It is no joke having our faith tested and attacked, clinging to our hope with white knuckles as dark forces try to forcibly wrest it from our grasp. But when we have built our faith upon the Rock of our Redeemer and the devil and all of his hail and his mighty winds cannot shake us, then we can truly say that our faith is unshaken, and we will discover that we are filled with the power of our Redeemer to test and attack and shake the devil in his turn. I know that if our faith is rooted in Jesus Christ, it can endure unshaken no matter what tests or trials it is subjected to. I hope that we can all see the value in our afflictions as they prove how strong and unshaken our faith can really be.
