“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” (Acts 10:38). Jesus is the Christ, the Anointed One, not because He was anointed with sacred mixtures of consecrated oils, but because He was anointed with the Holy Ghost. During His mortal life He enjoyed an unprecedented level of companionship with the Spirit of the Lord. It was thanks in part to this Anointing of the Holy Ghost that Christ was able to say with such efficacy to Satan to get thee hence, to command the blind to see and the lame to walk and the winds and the waves to be still and have peace, to confound lawyers and conjure up fish, to speak words of such truthfulness and profundity that thousands of years later we are still studying them and discovering new layers of meaning and insight. We also have the same opportunity that Jesus had to be anointed with the Holy Ghost. If we take this anointing to heart and strive to live worthily to commune with the same level of trust and intimacy with the Spirit as Jesus enjoyed, then we too will find that we also can use our gift of the Holy Ghost to bless our lives and the lives of others in ways that are just as miraculous and wonderful.
