Cooling Off
"And the doctrine of the priesthood shall distill upon thy soul as the dews from heaven." (D&C 121:45). I was thinking about what it means for doctrine to distill upon our soul as the dews from heaven. Dew condenses on cooling surfaces after the heat of the day gives way to night. Unlike a sudden outburst of rain, dew takes time and patience. After we have gone through the furnace of affliction, we have time to cool off and it is during this cooling off period that the dew of the doctrine of the priesthood can distill upon our soul. Tiny droplets of wisdom and serenity can soothe our parched souls if we can just be patient and allow the condensation to happen at its own pace. The process may be slow, but our patience will be rewarded in ways we could never have imagined.
