Sunlight, Moonlight And Starlight
There are three main kinds of light we experience in the sky: the sun, the moon, and the stars. It may be useful to compare our testimony and conviction of gospel truths to such lights. Sometimes our faith and certainty blazes like the noonday sun, with almost no shadows to distract us from its brilliance. We do not question these truths. We do not struggle with our obedience to these commandments. We do not even register temptations to break these covenants. Sometimes our testimony is like the moon. Sometimes it is bright enough, almost, to see by, although we have to still exercise caution, because the shadows may be deeper than they seem. Other times, like the moon, our faith may be just a small sliver - a remembrance of earlier times when our conviction was stronger, though now we are struggling. And sometimes the truth for us is like the stars - tiny, glimmering points of light in a vast sea of darkness. They may not provide a clear light to see by, but even still we can use the positions they're in to help orient ourselves in the right direction. The Lord has given us His truths in the form of sunlight, moonlight, and starlight. We may wish our revelations always came in one form over another, that our testimony was equally strong and vibrant in all areas of the gospel, but we can also choose to embrace and admire the light in all of its different forms and learn how to utilize each form of light in ways that best take advantage of the form in which it is presented. I know that all light comes from God and whether it is blazing sunlight, cool moonlight or twinkling starlight, all are evidence of God's love for us and will work together for our good.
