Why Is The Sky So Blue?

The Sky appears blue because of a phenomenon called Rayleigh Scattering. Red and yellow and green light is generally traveling fast and energetically enough to barrel through any microscopic particles and molecules in the air, but blue light, which is the smallest wavelength of light that can easily be detected by the human eye, bounces off of these particles and gets scattered through the atmosphere and never ends up reaching us on the Earth's surface. We typically associate the color blue with sadness. One of the ways that we can visualize our Savior's grace is by thinking about this Rayleigh Scattering. In life we are constantly being bathed in all kinds of light and all kinds of emotional experiences. When we rely upon the Atonement and the tender mercies of the Lord, He is able to scatter or redirect a lot of the blue, negative experiences that would otherwise come our way. Not all blue light is prevented from reaching us, and the Savior does not prevent all painful experiences from reaching us, but if we let Him, the Savior can scatter quite a lot of sad and painful experiences and stop them from ever reaching us. Our Heavenly Father's greatest preoccupation is ensuring that we experience the greatest amount of peace and joy in this world, and that we qualify for eternal life in the world to come. This is why Jesus Christ suffered an infinite amount, and scattered an infinite amount of sadness by blocking all of that pain with His own body. I know that when we rely on Jesus Christ, He will cover us with His Atonement.
