Love’s Protective Power

Twice in the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling, a character lays down their life to save the ones they loved and because of this ultimate sacrifice, a protective charm renders all killing curses ineffective and protects them. We don't know all of the reasons why the Lord miraculously spared the lives of all 2060 stripling warriors time after time, but I have to imagine that one of the reasons is that their fathers willingly laid down their lives in the hopes that their sacrifice would save their beloved sons. It is certainly in that same spirit that our Savior laid down His life. Because He gave His life for us, there is a protective power that we can take upon ourselves like a magic charm that can stop the enemy from destroying our souls.
