Flash Flood
It's monsoon season in Arizona and with it comes the danger of flash floods. Part of the reason that we're susceptible to flash floods is that the soil is so dry and there is so little plant life to hold the soil together that it can't absorb all of the rain water that's falling and so it gets swept away. Sometimes we want God to just hit us with a monsoon of revelation and knowledge, but God knows that we wouldn't be able to bear it. The soil of our souls is not ready to absorb such a downpour of knowledge and revelation. We need to keep planting our seeds of faith, so that the roots may lock in and enrich the soil so that we are prepared to receive the flood of knowledge and revelation from the Lord and not be swept away by it. It can be hard to keep planting in faith for months or years, waiting on the Lord's time, but God does not give us a stone when we ask for bread, nor even does He like to give us a stone when we are asking for a stone, and He will not give us more knowledge then we are able to bear at present. He knows the strength of our soil and how much of the living waters we can take at one time. But the way ahead is clear. If we want more knowledge, then we need to plant more seeds of faith so that our hearts and minds can absorb the revelation from heaven without being carried away by it like dust in a flash flood.
