We Can Never Have Too Much Faith

President Nelson has said "receive more faith by doing something that requires more faith." In the business world, it's common practice to find ways to spend any surplus by the end of the year so that the budget for the following year is not reduced. What President Nelson is proposing with regards to faith is almost the exact opposite of this. It is impossible to have a surplus of faith. God's never going to come around and say, Oops, looks like I gave you too much faith, let me take some of that back. We're also not supposed to be asking God to lower the difficulty level of our challenges to meet the current amount of faith we have. God wants us to grow so He is going to give us opportunities that require more faith than we have currently. And as we are humble and obedient and courageous enough to take on the challenges, we will find that we have faith sufficient to overcome our challenges, even if we didn't have enough faith when we started. Again and again, Christ compared faith to a seed. A seed can only grow into a plant big enough for its container. If you plant a seed in a small pot, it will not grow as big as it would in a large planter, nor as large as it could in an open field. If we want our tree of faith to grow bigger, then we need to ask the Lord to give us more soil, more light and water and challenges and growth opportunities.
