When it comes to physical exercise, some of us love it and some of us hate it. Sometimes we find it hard to squeeze into our day, or we don't like how it makes us tired or sore, especially if we've gotten out of the habit of exercising every day. And a lot of us get a certain amount of exercise done every day without even realizing it. We walk to places, we're picking things up, bending and twisting, all just as part of our daily routine. There isn't one particular set or rep or lap that will make or break our physical health and fitness, but dozens of exercises done each and every day, whether intentionally at the gym or just as we move through life, all contribute to our strength and stamina and endurance. If all of this is true of physical exercise, then why should it be any less true for the exercise of our faith. Just like with physical exercise, we all exercise our faith in dozens of small ways each and every day - whether it's putting our faith in a co-worker that they will get done what they promised, or brightening our neighbor's day with a friendly wave and a smile, or hoping that we'll be a little more patient today than we were yesterday. We might not always love exercising our faith, and we most likely often find it hard to squeeze into our busy schedules, but we still bother exercising our faith anyway because it increases our spiritual strength, stamina, and endurance. Sometimes putting in that extra spiritual effort can be draining and even leave our hearts sore and achy, but I know that, although it doesn't happen overnight and we may experience a lot of setbacks and relapses along the way, exercising our faith will grow it and build it up over time, until we are one day strong enough in our faith to move mountains.
