Eight Glasses A Day
In order to remain properly hydrated and healthy, the general consensus is that we ought to drink about eight glasses of water a day. I’m not a dietitian so I don’t know if this exact number is perfect for everybody, but for most of us it’s probably a good goal to aim for. As important as it is for us to make sure our bodies are getting enough water every day, it is equally important to make sure that our Spirits are getting properly hydrated with the Living Waters offered by our Savior Jesus Christ. If we were to make an effort to ensure that we are getting eight glasses of Living Water every day for our Spirits, what would that look like? Well, for one thing, it probably would mean that we would need to be drinking gradually from the Living Waters throughout the day. We wouldn’t try to drink a half gallon of water in the first ten minutes of the day and then not drink anything else for the rest of the day. Similarly, we shouldn’t only rely solely on ten minutes of prayer and scripture study first thing in the morning and then never think again about our Savior or the gospel throughout the whole rest of the day. We ought to be keeping Jesus Christ in our minds and turning our hearts towards Him throughout the day. Whenever our bodies are thirsty, we immediately reach for a drink. We should do the same when our souls are thirsty. Just as we might chug half a water bottle after a hard workout, we ought to engage in meaningful prayer and meditation after a hard spiritual battle. I know that if we make an effort to drink a full eight glasses of Living Water a day, we will notice the changes to our Spiritual hydration levels and we will feel more spiritually healthy, joyful and at peace.
