Exquisite Pain And Exquisite Joy
Alma 36:21 - “Yea, I say unto you, my son, that there could be nothing so exquisite and so bitter as were my pains, yea, and again I say unto you, my son, nothing so exquisite and sweet as was my joy.” However intense our pain is right now, thanks to the Atonement of Jesus Christ, our joy and peace and pleasure will be of the same intensity. That’s why it makes no sense to delay or procrastinate the repentance process. However bad we feel right now, we’re going to feel just as strongly good once we’ve repented and been forgiven. And for the many parts of our lives that have nothing to do with the choices, good or bad, that we’ve made - all of the trials and consequences of other people’s choices, all sicknesses and injuries, all disappointments and heartbreaks - God will soothe and mend and heal and uplift and enliven us and fill us with His love and His light and His hope and His peace and His joy so that our previous pains will be washed out by the intensity of our relief. God may ask of us to suffer exquisite and bitter pain, but He has in store for us exquisite and sweet joy.
