Someone To Lean On
When the Lord called Moses to be his prophet, Moses protested that he was slow of speech. It would have been better if Moses had the faith to trust that the Lord would help him overcome any speech impediment he may have had, but Moses lacked sufficient faith so instead the Lord gave Moses his brother Aaron to help him out. It would be better for all of us if we could always cast out all fear and doubt and go forth with faith, nothing wavering. But like Moses, sometimes we can't find the faith and courage we need to do God's will. And just as God gave Moses Aaron, He gives us brothers, sisters, parents, extended family and friends to help us until we can gain the confidence to accept God's divine aid more fully. We will all have countless opportunities to be both a Moses who needs to lean on a friend's strength and an Aaron who helps out someone who is struggling. We can see in the scriptures how just as Moses needed Aaron's help, Aaron in turn needed help from Moses. God gives each of us a unique blend of strengths and weaknesses so we can learn to trust and rely on and help one another out.
