There are several accounts of prophets who have had visions from the Lord that were so wonderful that language utterly failed them. They literally could not describe with human words what they had experienced. And we can see from certain prophets like Isaiah or Ezekiel or John the Revelator that even when they did attempt to put into words their heavenly visions, they only had limited success, at least to most of us who try to read and make sense of them. The truth of the matter is that our finite brains can only grasp the faintest shadows of the infinite complexity that is our Heavenly Father's thoughts and mind and heart. We can't hold even a tiny fraction of it all inside of us. “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.” (Psalms 139:6). When we come to accept that our Heavenly Father's plan for us is too wonderful for us to fully comprehend, it may become easier to accept His will and His commandments, especially when they seem to us to be illogical, nonsensical, or contradictory. For example, why are we taught that we must fear God and yet we are also taught that God does not give us the spirit of fear? Maybe it's because the “fear” that we must feel for God is a feeling that is too wonderful for us to fully contain within us, but the tiny sliver that we can manage seems to affect us in a way similar to the spirit of fear that often grips us and yet only superficially resembles the feeling that we call the fear of the Lord. When we seek to love the Lord with all of our heart, we are filling our heart to bursting with as much of the pure love of Christ as we possibly can. Our hearts cannot contain all of our Savior's love. It is too wonderful for us. But an amazing thing happens as we take on not just as much as we can handle but even more than that. When we love so much that our heart breaks because it can't hold all of it, this is in part what the Savior meant when He said that we must offer a sacrifice of a broken heart. Every time we fill our hearts to the breaking with Christ's love, He will give us a new heart, one that can be filled with even more of His love. Our Savior's love will always be too wonderful for us, but with every sacrifice of a broken heart overstuffed with too much love, we can get closer and closer to fully understanding and loving our Savior and our Heavenly Father.
