God’s Agents
In many industries, someone may hire an agent to be an advocate and a promoter of their work. An agent has specialized skills, connections within the industry and the time and resources that their client may lack. In exchange, the client typically gives the agent a commission or a percentage of their profits. The Lord has made each of us His agents. We have specialized talents and skills that we can leverage to help promote God's work. We have connections with family and friends and neighbors who will listen to us in a way that they might not listen to the Lord. We have time and resources to help carry out God's work. And for all of our efforts, rather than giving us a ten percent commission and requiring us to turn over the other ninety percent, instead, the Lord allows us ninety percent of the profits, and asks only that we return ten percent to Him. The best way that we can show our gratitude for such generosity is to ask ourselves if we are being the best agents we can be. Are we using all of our talents and skills and abilities to promote our client's work? Are we doing everything we can to reach out to all of our connections, our family and friends and acquaintances, and include them in God's work? Are we using all of our available time and resources to make sure that our client's work goes forth "boldly, nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done?"
