Good Courage

In the first chapter of Joshua, the Lord tells Joshua 3 times to be strong and of a good courage. But the Lord isn’t asking a fearful person to summon up courage over night. Joshua, along with Caleb, was the guy who initially came back and reported that despite all of their armies and their giant men, the Lord would deliver the land of Canaan into their hands, even when all of the others were cowering in fear. Joshua throughout his life had been strong and of a good courage. The Lord was telling Joshua to remember all of the times he had been courageous and carry on in that legacy of strength and courage. We have all faced situations that we were certain we could not handle, and yet with the Lord’s help we made it through them. We are all far stronger and have more courage than our fears would have us believe. We have all survived too much to continue to believe that we are too weak or afraid to face the challenges ahead.
