The Body Of Christ

"For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it. Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular." (1 Corinthians 12:12, 25-27). One of the tenets of reflexology is that the body is all linked together, so that you can manipulate or apply pressure to a part of the hand or the foot and affect the brain or the heart or the liver. I am not going to get into a debate on how medically scientific reflexology may or may not be, but I do believe that the concept of an interconnected body where the health and well-being of each of its members is linked with and affected by that of each of the other members is a great way to understand the Body of Christ, and all of us as its members. When we as members serve other members of the body of Christ, those good deeds spread goodness through the whole body, and that goodness will eventually find its way reflected back to us. Similarly, as we work on improving and bettering ourselves, like massaging a particular pressure point, our work on ourselves will find its way into improving the lives of those around us. We are all connected and tied to each other. We are all vital parts of the Body of Christ. There are no vestigial or superfluous members of the body of Christ. We may not always see how our contributions matter but if we nevertheless continue to faithfully do the best that we can, God will eventually reveal to us just how special and important and crucial our existence and our faith and our actions have been. I know that anything good or bad that happens to one of us will eventually affect all of us. I hope that we will never tire out doing our part to help every single member of the Body of Christ.
