Love Passeth Understanding

“That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.” (Ephesians 3:17-19). When our hearts are filled with Love, then has Christ come to dwell in our hearts, for God is love. The love of Christ passeth all understanding, for God’s ways are not our ways, nor are His thoughts our thoughts, but if we are filled with love, if we have invited God into our hearts and our minds, then doth that love begin to transform our hearts and minds. We may not know now why the Lord commands us to do this thing, or withholds that thing from us, or blesses us in a certain way or fails to bless us in a certain way. But if we love the Lord enough to put our faith and our trust and our hope in him, then that love can go before us, can pass in front of our understanding, and can beckon and encourage and comfort us along the way. And the more we turn our hearts over to God, the more room we make for Him in our hearts, the more that this love will allow us to comprehend the breadth and length and depth and height of God’s plan for us. Our love can pass beyond our understanding, but in so doing works on our hearts and minds a transformation. Our thoughts and our ways are not God’s thoughts and ways, but through love they can be brought closer together. The more we love, the more we can comprehend the breadth of God’s love and can see how all of our actions are interconnected and God is in every detail of our lives. The more we love, the more we can comprehend the length of God’s love and we can see how far out His love and His power and His compassion stretches out into our pasts and into our future. The more we love, the more we can comprehend the depth of God’s love and we can feel our souls expand to create more and more room for Christ in our hearts. The more we love, the more we can comprehend the height of God’s love and can revel in the joy of being able to see how far and how wide and how deep and how high God’s love and His plan and His hope for us extends.
