The Unity Of The Faith

"Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:" (Ephesians 4:13). All of us who truly seek to become disciples of Christ are committed to a lifelong quest to increase our knowledge of our Savior and our Heavenly Father. With each act of faith, with each obedience to a commandment, with each compassionate service or testimony shared we know God a little better. We bring our thoughts and our ways a little closer to God's thoughts and ways. And the closer each of our thoughts and ways are to God's thoughts and ways, then actually the closer our thoughts and ways are to each other. That is how we arrive at the unity of the faith. Since we have learned to think and to act like Jesus would act, and since our fellow disciples have also learned in the same manner, then we have learned to act and think a little like each other. If we are struggling with feelings of enmity or misunderstanding towards any individual, the best thing that we can do is to increase our knowledge of and our faith in Christ and invite the person for whom we may have unkind feelings to do the same and as we each individually understand the Savior better, the better we will understand each other, and the greater unity of faith we will have together.
