White Christmas
There is something so clean about a fresh blanket of snow. Sure, underneath the snow the houses and cars and sidewalks may be dirty, but, for just a moment, everything looks pristine and new. “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” (Isaiah 1:18). Jesus Christ was born not to condemn the world but that through Him the world might be saved and cleansed and purified and their sins may be blotted out and covered by the Atonement, just as fresh snow covers over grime and dirt and makes everything look clean and pure. “Therefore they were called after this holy order, and were sanctified, and their garments were washed white through the blood of the Lamb. Now they, after being sanctified by the Holy Ghost, having their garments made white, being pure and spotless before God, could not look upon sin save it were with abhorrence; and there were many, exceedingly great many, who were made pure and entered into the rest of the Lord their God.” Wherever we are this Christmas, whether we’re in the Northern reaches of Canada or on the tropical beaches of Grenada, thanks to the Infinite Sacrifice of our Savior Jesus Christ, we can all experience the joys of a White Christmas as our garments are washed white in the blood of the Lamb and we are made pure and enter into the rest of the Lord our God.
