I Love It When A Plan Comes Together
One of the most compelling parts of a heist movie is the plan. The thieves might be trying to steal from a place with impenetrable security, but they’ve devised a meticulous, clockwork plan, thought through every possible scenario and developed contingencies for anything that could possibly go wrong. And then, inevitably, everything does go wrong. Or, at least, it seems to. In the best heists, when everything seems to go horribly wrong and that beautiful plan seems to have been for nought, it turns out that, all along, the stuff that goes wrong was actually a part of the plan the whole time. I think that this is often how Heavenly Father’s plan is for us. We might have had a perfectly laid out plan to get through this life, we may think that we have thought of everything, and yet, despite all of our preparation, everything falls apart. Our plan is completely ruined and there’s nothing we can do about it. But we’re still in the middle of the heist movie. I know it looks like there’s no saving this, but God is a lot cleverer than we could possibly imagine. When everything looks to be falling apart, this is still part of the Plan. He has figured out a way for us to get to the happy ending at the end of the story that includes the controlled chaos in the middle. We don’t know the whole plan, but we know that it’s going to be successful in the end, even if we can’t see how He could possibly save it at this point in our lives. When everything is going right, that’s the Plan working. And when everything seems to be going wrong, that’s the Plan working too. It’s all going to work out in the end. We are going to win this thing in the end. God will make sure the plan comes together.
