Unblemished
When the Lord revealed the law of sacrifice to Moses, He commanded that all sacrifices should be unblemished. This is because the Lord deserves our best, but also because every sacrifice was in similitude of the Sacrifice of the Only Begotten, Who was unblemished. But after that great and last Sacrifice, Jesus commanded that animal sacrifices be done away with and instead we offer up as a sacrifice a broken heart and a contrite spirit. If we are to offer up a broken heart and a contrite spirit as our sacrifice, how can we make sure that our sacrifice is unblemished? We can’t hold back. The Lord wants our whole heart, our whole spirit. The Lord wants us to sacrifice our whole heart to Him because He is going to give us a brand new heart that is completely unblemished. And if we get blemishes on the new heart, we can give it back to the Lord and He will give us a new heart once more. The Atonement is available to each of us to make sure that we are always getting all of the blemishes off of our sacrifices, so the Lord can transform us into the best, unblemished version of ourselves.
