The Daily Bread of Repentance

In the Lord's Prayer, one of the first things Christ asks of our Heavenly Father is to "give us this day our daily bread." Bread is used in the Sacrament as a symbol of Christ's body and as a token that we will repent and take upon us His name and keep His Commandments that we may always have His spirit to be with us. What Christ is teaching us in the Lord's prayer when He talks about daily bread is that we don't have to wait until Sunday to take the bread of repentance in the Sacrament, but instead, we can and we must ask daily for the bread of repentance and forgiveness. Daily we face the challenge of having to seek forgiveness for our debts as well as finding it in our hearts to forgive those who are in our debt. Daily we face the struggle of trying not to be led into temptation, but as we ask daily for the bread of repentance then God can deliver us from the daily evils we face. I know there is power in every single day keeping close to our hearts the emblems of the Sacrament, the bread and the water, the body and the blood of our Savior, daily repentance and forgiveness and the guiding and protecting Spirit of our Heavenly Father.
