Peace Makers
I was thinking about the word peacemaker. We don't say peace-doer, or peace-haver, or peace-giver, or peace-seeker, or peace-monger. Peace isn't merely the absence of war. We have so many tragic examples of a warlord or tyrant being assassinated or removed from power and yet peace doesn't magically appear when those who started the war are removed. Peace must be made. Peace requires effort and work and creativity. It requires collaboration and a spirit of cooperation towards a common goal. If everyone stopped fighting and yelling and arguing all at once, we would still not have peace. Peace comes from making - building bridges, forging friendships, knitting our hearts together in love and respect and trust and mutual admiration. Our Heavenly Father is the great Creator, the ultimate Maker. If we want to be like Him, we must be makers too, and especially makers of peace.
