Still And Small
When the Lord speaks to us, we describe it as a still, small voice. This is both a description of the characteristics of the voice we hear, but also a promise of the content and results of the message the voice conveys. The Lord often asks us to do some small thing which will help us best. If we are prompted to act but then tempted to ignore that prompting because either it's too small to be of any use or else beneath our dignity, then we know that it is that small voice beckoning us to do some small thing through which great things will be brought to pass. And if we humble ourselves and do the small thing, then we have the promise that a greater stillness, a greater peace and serenity will enter our lives. So let us do the small things and enjoy a greater stillness in our lives as we listen to the still, small voice.
