Particles Of Faith

"But behold, if ye will awake and arouse your faculties, even to an experiment upon my words, and exercise a particle of faith, yea, even if ye can no more than desire to believe, let this desire work in you, even until ye believe in a manner that ye can give place for a portion of my words." (Alma 32:27). In physics, some of the most basic particles are atoms, which are so small that you can have essentially 600 million billion billion hydrogen atoms in one kilogram of hydrogen. But as tiny as these little particles are, they literally have the power to move mountains when they are part of a nuclear chain reaction. In nuclear fission, once one atom splits, the pieces fly into other atoms, causing those atoms to fire their pieces into other atoms, causing them to split and so on. Each time an atom splits, a tremendous amount of power is released. One small act of faith may not seem like much, but every act of faith calls up the power of God, which radiates light and warmth and goodness into all aspects of our life and into the world around us. Every time we exercise a particle of faith, the effects enter into the hearts of others, inviting and inspiring them to exercise their particle of faith, which will inspire still others to exercise their particle of faith. Each time that the particle of faith is exercised, a tremendous amount of God's power is released. Our tiny, seemingly insignificant acts of faith will cause a chain reaction of acts of faith that will radiate outward and then just when we need it most get reflected back to us magnified a hundred fold.
