Align Our Will With Our Father’s

"Prayer is the act by which the will of the Father and the will of the child are brought into correspondence with each other" (Bible Dictionary: Prayer). The best way for our prayers to be answered is for us to ask the Lord for the things that He already most wants to give us. The Savior has said that God will not give us a stone when we ask for bread, or a serpent when we ask for a fish. By the same token, God will not give us a stone even if that's what we ask for. At the end of the day, we want God to answer our prayers and God wants to answer them. So the best thing we can do is seek to align our will with the Father's, that way we are always praying for things that God is willing and able to answer. The closer we get to acting and thinking like the Lord, the more that we will pray for the right reasons and the more often our prayers will be answered.
