With A Bow On Top
Often when we give presents, we put a bow on top. A bow can mean both a decorative knot and the act of lowering yourself in humility and reverence. When we give or receive a gift with a humble bow, we gratefully acknowledge that all good things that we could possibly give or receive come from our Heavenly Father, the Creator of all things. When we give from a place of humility, we do so freely, selflessly, not begrudging the cost or chasing after recognition. We are awed by God's boundless grace and we leap at the opportunity to follow His example by generously giving far, far more than is deserved. And when we receive from a place of humility, we do so with open arms, never questioning whether we deserve it nor wondering if it is good enough. When the Lord speaks of giving, it is never described as a drip or a trickle or a sprinkle. He pours blessings down upon us, until we are drenched, soaked with the certainty that He loves us and provides for us more than we could ever dream of. When we look at the bow on the top of a present, let us remember to bow down in humility and reverence and gratitude for the greatest of all gifts, even our Savior Jesus Christ.
