All Our Heart
We are invited to love and trust in the Lord with all our heart. The heart has two sides. The right heart receives deoxygenated blood and then pumps it over to the lungs to be reoxygenated and to eliminate carbon dioxide waste. The left heart receives that oxygenated blood and pumps it all throughout the body to deliver oxygen and nutrients and then carry waste back to the right heart. The heart receives both the oxygenated and deoxygenated blood, the good and the bad. To love and trust in the Lord with all our hearts means receiving with humility and faith and hope both the good and the bad, the bitter and the sweet. The heart focuses both on sending the blood to be rejuvenated and refreshed and also to be sent to every part of the body to deliver that fresh blood. To love and trust in the Lord with all our heart means not just praying and receiving His Spirit to be with us. It means carrying out His Spirit into the world and serving and blessing our brothers and sisters. Like sending blood to the lungs to receive life giving oxygen, when we take the time to commune with the Lord and feel the promptings of the Spirit, we are loving and trusting in Him with our right heart. And when we follow the promptings we receive and waste and wear out our lives in the service of our fellow men and women, we are loving and trusting in the Lord with our left heart. When we receive the good with gratitude we are loving and trusting with our left heart. And when we receive the bad with humility, we are loving and trusting with our right heart. When we do all these things we love and trust the Lord with all our hearts.
