King Of Kings

It is hard to imagine that a king of any era would set aside their privileges and obligations to their kingdom for months or even years to undertake a long and arduous journey facing countless dangers and privations. That not one but multiple kings undertook such a journey all to visit the child of some unknown carpenter living in a sleepy hamlet in an obscure and backwater province of the Roman empire almost beggars belief. What could have inspired these rulers to leave the governing of their kingdoms in the hands of others only to fall down and worship at the feet of a child of such humble circumstances that He was born in a stable? But these kings who had traveled thousands of miles knew that they were traveling to meet and pay homage to the King of Kings. Christ is the King of Kings not merely because He is as far above in station to the kings of this world as kings are to their subjects. He is the King of Kings because He is not content to leave His subjects relegated to second class citizens. His ambition for those in His kingdom is far grander. Thanks to Jesus Christ's sacrificial Atonement, all who will enter into His kingdom with full purpose of heart and faith in His name have the hope and expectation that they too may become kings and queens in Christ's Kingdom. This is why Jesus is the King of Kings. I am so grateful that our King will do all in His power to give each and every one of us kingdoms of our own within His realm.
