Lord Of Hosts

“And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.” (Matthew 8:20). From even before He was born it seemed like wherever He went, there was often no room for Jesus to come in and stay the night. If we had lived during His time and He had stood at our door and knocked, would we also have turned Him away, or would we have opened our door to receive Him? How many times in our day to day lives does the Savior metaphorically knock on the door to our hearts and we refuse to let Him enter? “Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.” (John 14:23). Jesus Christ would like nothing more than for us to show our love for Him by opening up our doors and hosting Him and our Heavenly Father, that they might make Their abode with us. After all, Jesus is the Lord of Hosts. Let us all be gracious hosts and invite in He who has no place where to lay His head but has been patiently standing at the door to knock and hoping that once again He will not be told that there is no room for Him.
