To Be Complete
The word peace in the Bible is translated from the Hebrew word Shalom, which properly means to be complete or whole. To be complete or whole is actually what the word perfect means in the original Latin. So when the Savior says "my peace I give unto you," it's as if He is saying my completeness, my wholeness, my perfection I give unto you. The Lord has commanded us to be perfect, but this is not something He intends or expects us to do on our own. His greatest desire for us is that we have peace in our hearts, but when we can't find peace on our own, He will give us His peace. When we can't be whole on our own, He can make us whole. When we can't be perfect on our own, He can help make us perfect. I know that whatever part of us feels missing or incomplete or agitated, the Lord can give us what is missing, He can calm our soul and ease our mind and soften our heart and give us His peace and make us feel whole and complete and perfect.
