Renew Their Strength

"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." (Isaiah 40:31). As we wait upon the Lord, we renew our strength to varying levels and degrees according to our faith and the Lord’s will. Sometimes the Lord scoops us up and lets us soar with the wings of eagles over the mountains ahead of us. Sometimes, the Lord allows us to keep running full speed ahead without slowing down or stumbling or growing weary. And sometimes the Lord asks us to just keep on walking and plodding and trudging forward, promising that we will not faint. Whether the Lord will permit us to solve our problem in a single bound, or require us to exercise constant, daily, unwavering faith and making only tiny amounts of progress compared to our overall journey, the promise remains the same. As we wait upon the Lord, He shall renew our strength. He will make sure that we have strength enough to keep walking when walking is required, and to keep running when running is possible, and to mount up with wings as eagles when we have faith sufficient for a miracle. But whether we are flying, running or walking, we will always have our strength renewed and refreshed by the Lord so long as we wait upon Him.
