Room to Grow

With potted plants, as the plants grow it becomes necessary to transfer the plant to a larger pot of soil so the plant has room to grow. Otherwise, the roots of the plant could break through the pot. We can think of our hearts as pots of soil in which we plant our seeds of faith. As our faith grows, our hearts might begin to break because we no longer have room enough for our growing faith. That is why Christ asks us to offer up our broken hearts. He wants to help us transfer our growing faith into a larger vessel with more room to grow. The more our faith grows, the more we will need to offer up our broken hearts so that Christ can give us new hearts with greater capacities for increased faith.
