Not What We Deserve, But What We Need

In the movie the Dark Knight, Batman talks about being the hero that Gotham needs, but not the hero they deserve. The Atonement of Jesus Christ is not what we deserve, but it is what we need. We so rarely deserve the mercy and love that God showers on us, but oh how we need it! I think that it is less important worrying about whether we deserve God's blessings and more important to accept with humility and gratitude how much we need these blessings. We don't deserve the Atonement, but we definitely need it.
