“And I did read many things unto them which were written in the books of Moses; but that I might more fully persuade them to believe in the Lord their Redeemer I did read unto them that which was written by the prophet Isaiah; for I did liken all scriptures unto us, that it might be for our profit and learning.” (1 Nephi 19:23). One of the best ways that we can sustain and support our prophet is by studying and applying the scriptures to our lives. As we grow in our understanding of the scriptures and especially as we act out that understanding in our day to day lives, we become more and more each day fully converted so that we can better build up the Kingdom of God and carry out the will of the Lord as conveyed through the vision and direction of our prophet. And since the words of the prophet are essentially scripture, the best way to support the prophet is by likening the counsel and words of wisdom that he himself provides, which is especially beneficial since the modern scripture is especially tailored to the unique challenges we face in our day. I hope that we all study and liken the words of the living prophet for our own profit and learning and for our prophet’s benefit as well.
