God Can’t Help if We Don’t Ask
After the massacre of the people of Anti-Nephi-Lehi, Ammon and the King got into a debate over whether they should remain and continue to be the target of their hostile countrymen, or throw themselves at the mercy of the Nephites. The King was understandably hesitant between choosing between living among their new enemies or their old enemies. Ammon was insistent that everything would be fine. Finally the King asked Ammon to ask the Lord what they should do. The Lord's response, in essence, was "What took you so long? Yes, get them out of there. I didn't send you over there to preach the gospel only for them all to be killed. Leave now." The Lord can't help us if we don't ask Him. Sometimes we pray and we don't get an answer right away. But sometimes the Lord is waiting to give us the answer if only we would ask.
